Why I fight for Justice

YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AT EVERY POINT ON A SURVIVOR’S JOURNEY

$150

covers the cost of
one day of OSEC
investigations. Skilled
investigators plan
rescue operations to
free enslaved children
and collect evidence
to convict criminals
and protect survivors.

$250

helps fight a legal battle
in the court. It takes
great bravery for a
survivor to have share
their story in court. This
ensures they have an
excellent lawyer and
necessary support by
their side.

$450

provides five hours of
trauma therapy to help
survivors overcome fear,
anger and shame. Skilled
counsellors create a
customised treatment plan
to help survivors on the
road to restoration.

I fight for justice because there are real people behind the numbers…

Online Sexual Exploitation is the fastest growing version of modern slavery. Dom, Kath and Jessa are playing their part in fighting for justice.

WILL YOU FIGHT FOR JUSTICE WITH US?

MEET IJM INVESTIGATOR, DOM

"I fight for justice because my fatherhood doesn't stop at the four walls of my home"

8 YEARS FIGHTING

Dom is involved at very start of the justice process - a lead is given to his team, and he works on the investigation to find and rescue victims from slavery.

Sometimes the leads Dom receives are just a name or an email address, and so he must constantly find creative ways to track down criminals. Often he will work day and night, fueled by prayers to find the victims.

He is motivated by seeing just one victim survive, grow and then fight for others.

MEET IJM ATTORNEY, KATH

"I fight for justice because there are real people behind the numbers"

10 YEARS FIGHTING

Victims are found and rescued, but the facilitators of slavery must also be brought to justice. This is where Kath is involved as an attorney representing victims in court proceedings.

Kath’s battle is a legal one - the defence in the courtroom can be brutal, and the scale of the work is huge. But she is not discouraged by the task ahead. She is motivated by the experience of seeing survivor’s lives transformed and renewed.

She is convicted that the menace of OSEC must not be allowed to persist.

MEET IJM SOCIAL WORKER, JESSA

"I fight because I want to ensure that survivors achieve healing and restoration"

10 YEARS FIGHTING

Jessa is involved in aftercare, caring for survivors from the point of rescue to recovery.

The legal system can be a challenge as survivors experience retraumatisation through interviews and court proceedings. For Jessa, it can take a long time to build trust with the survivors, as rescue does not always mean instant relief. Some children who have been exploited by their own families must be counselled to understand why they have been removed from their homes.

But she has seen and knows it is possible to restore a survivor. This is what motivates her to keep fighting for justice.
