FOR GOOD

Slavery is big business

The buying and selling of children, women and men generates an estimated $150 billion in profits for traffickers. But our teams on the ground are working tirelessly with local authorities to end this illegal and horrific business:to rescue and restore survivors and bring perpetrators to justice, while strengthening justice systems.

You can join the fight with your gift today. Together, we can put slavery out of business – for good.

Kim's Story

He had a total grasp on me and it was so difficult to break away.

Kim was just 12 years old when AJ promised to help her and her desperately poor family. Kim moved with him to Manila and he put her into a good school and fed her well. He promised her a job so she could help pay for her five siblings to go to school. But it was a setup.

Kim’s exploitation began a few months after she arrived at AJ’s home. First it was a nude photo. Then it was exposure in front of a webcam to paedophiles around the world. Then it was rape in hotel rooms by paying “customers”.

Kim was scared and she was trapped.

But IJM’s supporters sent rescue. The IJM Manila team worked with Philippine law enforcement to find and arrest AJ. Kim was taken to a shelter with other survivors of cybersex trafficking. Later, Kim was able to testify in court against AJ, and he was convicted and sent to jail.

AJ can no longer hurt girls like Kim. Other would-be traffickers know that they will be held accountable for their crimes. And Kim is free and on the path to restoration.

Here’s what she has to say:

“I just want to say thank you. Don’t give up. Keep fighting.
