THE PROBLEM
Violence Against Women and Children
Violence impacts millions of women and children globally, with those in poverty being particularly vulnerable to various forms of abuse, including sexual and domestic violence. In many cases, when a man assaults his wife or partner, it is often dismissed as a “family matter” and goes unreported to authorities. Sexual violence against children is alarmingly frequent, yet many courts lack the resources and capacity to handle these cases effectively, leaving women and children without the protection they urgently need.
- 1 in 3 women experience violence in her lifetime
- Nearly 736 million women have experienced physical and/ or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime
- Worldwide, up to 50% of sexual assaults are committed against girls under 16

We help restore survivors of violence, build justice system capacity to identify and restrain offenders, and assist local authorities’ efforts to prosecute and hold them accountable.
