Board Director

Sarah Hornby’s path into philanthropy began in 2007, when a role supporting a major gifts team sparked a passion that would shape the course of her career.

Over the next 14 years, she worked with global NGOs including Opportunity International Australia and ygap, raising funds to support sustainable development and tackle poverty in emerging economies. In senior roles at both state and national levels, Sarah led major donor programs, built an ambassador network and conducted immersive donor trips to projects in India and Indonesia, bringing supporters closer to the grassroots impact of their giving.

In 2022, Sarah joined the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation as Head of Philanthropy. As a cancer survivor, she brings a deeply personal perspective to her work and a strong belief in the power of research to save lives. She credits her own recovery to advances made possible through philanthropy and is passionate about forging partnerships that will accelerate the next breakthroughs in cancer care.

Sarah remains deeply committed to international development and is proud to serve on the board of IJM Australia, supporting the mission to end modern slavery and protect vulnerable communities around the world.
